FIRST DAY
From RED PLANET EXPEDITION office the tour starts at 10:30 in a Toyota land cruiser 4x4 drive you will see………..
The train’s graveyard to see the first locomotives in Bolivia. afterwards you go to the small village of Colchani (Salt miners workshop next to the salt flats) visit the factories and see the rustic way of table salt production...... after this you will be taken to the great salt flat of Uyuni (salar de Uyuni) where you first will see the salt mining and the piles of salt (pyramids of salt) after this you go to see the eyes of the salt ( big holes in the salt flat where the water from underneath of this death lake still comes out by high pressure) later you go straight to the hotel made out of salt (the only hotel allowed inside of the salt flats) where you take you time for pictures taking a look of the rooms, salt sculptures and the lobby of the hotel (Playa Blanca) and having Lunch in the same place........ after lunch you will go forward to the central point of the salt which is the Inca Wasy island (fish island) where you see the giant cactus and the Rocks formations of Coral petrified ......... There will be always time to stop in the middle of the salt to see haw big is it the unusual formations in the salt flat that look like (hexagons and pentagons) on top of it……. And some thing that you definitely have to do here are the pictures with the huge perspective (where people looks so tiny and funny). After some fun you go west direction to visit the strange Galaxies Cave (calcified and petrified algae) in a very scary and amazing cavern, and last that day you go to the small Village of Agua Quisa to spend the first night (hot coffee, or chocolate at the tee time and a delicious supper) will be waiting for you when arrive there.
SECOND DAY
This day starts at 7:00 am. Waking up for breakfast and then get ready to begin an amazing day (check out the rooms when packing up don’t leave anything).
After leaving the hostel you go forward the big volcano Thunupa (5435 high), once in the volcano the 4x4 drive will get you up to 4200 high. And from this point you can clime up according to this three options depending how you feeling in the heights,
1. Clime up half an hour to the closest viewpoint to see from the distance the crater of the volcano thunupa up north and turning around to the back see the immensity of the huge Uyuni salt flat (salar de Uyuni), then you walk down in few minutes to the place you begun and go to visit a cave just 5 minutes fur from there where you will see mummies that belonged to an old PreInca culture called (lord lipez 1200 AC). Back to the car again get down from the mountain to a small village (Coquesa at the foot of the volcano) where you get the Lunch. And relax in there. In the afternoon you have to take the Car back to Uyuni. In the way back …….by the shore of the salt lake you gonna have the chance to see some wildlife flamingos and llamas grazing in the fertile planes, after this You cross the salt again to be back in Uyuni around 4:00 pm.
2. Clime up 1 hour to another viewpoint to see the crater closer and turning around back see the immensity of the huge Uyuni salt flat (salar de Uyuni), then you walk down in around 30 minutes to the place you begun and go to visit a cave just 5 minutes fur from there where you will see mummies that belonged to an old PreInca culture called (lord lipez 1200 AC). Back to the car again get down from the mountain to a small village (Coquesa at the foot of the Volcano) where you get the Lunch. And relax in there. In the afternoon you have to take the Car back to Uyuni. In the way back …….by the shore of the salt lake you gonna have the chance to see some wildlife flamingos and llamas grazing in the fertile planes, after this You cross the salt again to be back in Uyuni around 4:30 pm.
3. Clime up for 3 hours to the volcano up to the crater and see it from its age, once in the top you get the Box Lunch and some refresh to recover the energy and relax in there looking the crater and the big salt lake (salar de Uyuni) from the heights. Later you start to walk down to the starting place in about an hour and a half. Back to the car again get down from the mountain to a small village (Coquesa at the foot of the Volcano) after Coqueza by the shore of the salt lake you gonna have the chance to see some wildlife flamingos and llamas grazing in the fertile planes, after this You cross the salt again to be back in Uyuni around 5:00 pm.
